From the Status Quo of the Sphere to the Affirmation of the Polyhedron

Dissenting from Technological Homogenization in Artificial Intelligence

Abstract

This paper presents a critique of the current technological-political status quo, which promotes a binary and utilitarian view of artificial intelligence (AI) as part of the idea of permanent and unlimited progress primarily aimed at increasing productivity, consumption, and economic profitability. Within this model of the world, driven by a high concentration of knowledge and capital in a few centers of power, the problems affecting the majority of the population (such as lack of internet access or digital literacy) are obscured, while what we call the idolatry of immanence is encouraged. Our approach dissents from the homogenizing tendency emanating from major technological centers in the West and proposes a rooted AI aligned with the values and common good of each community, adopting the metapolitical principle of the polyhedron, which defends cultural diversity against the imposition of the model of the global sphere. To achieve this, peripheral ecumenes must, at the very least, consider developing their own generative AI language models.
