Identity, memory and education: against the pedagogy of emptiness
Keywords:
education, culture, cultural identity, Latin AmericaAbstract
This brief and profound article considers one of the central problems of today’s society, that of education as a vehicle for the transmission of knowledge and the construction of identity. It analyzes the results of the implementation of the “pedagogy of emptiness” and urges a return of art –especially literature– to an emancipating pedagogy that allows to grant to the receivers not simple data of reality but significant identity elements that bind them in a tradition and allow them to participate authentically in the social dynamics.
