Aspectos coincidentes acerca del autoconocimiento del alma en Plotino y Agustín de Hipona
Keywords:
Plotinus, Augustine of Hippo, self-discovery, soul, similaritiesAbstract
This research attempts first to track certain parallelisms between the selfdiscovery of the soul according to Plotinus (especially in The Enneads, V, 3 and V, 5) and Augustine of Hippo (especially in De Trinitate, X). The coincidences between the texts regarding not only content but also lexicon are outlined along with an assessment on the matter. Lastly, this work will seek to determine whether Augustine conceives the soul’s mode of self-knowledge following Plotinus strictly or if he was able to distance himself, at least partially, from the infl uence of the Neoplatonic in his conjectures. In order to arrive at this conclusion, we will focus on the nature of the aperture of the soul towards divinity by self-discovery according to each author.
