Regarding the ‘divine eternity’, Peter Lombard’s Sentences conveys an intriguing paradox. On the one hand, it might seem that this work, beyond the simple references of the locutions that defi ne the divine eternity, does not present doctrinal developments that are worth mentioning. On the other hand, in the Sentences we can find a notion of eternity that is not contained in his sources nor has been received by its most illustrious commentators. In fact, this notion of eternity affects the knowledge of the being and essence of God as its truth and property. Hence, this notion turns out to be particularly well-suited to express the
equality among the divine persons.
