La mirada tomista frente a los planteamientos de la neuroteología

El artículo establece un diálogo entre el trabajo de David Yaden y Andrew Newberg presentado en The Varieties of Spiritual Experience (2023) y el marco filosófico-teológico de Tomás de Aquino. A partir de tres categorías clave del libro –los desencadenantes de las experiencias espirituales, su clasificación en seis tipos (numinosas, reveladoras, sincrónicas, místicas, estéticas y paranormales) y sus resultados transformadores– utilizamos conceptos tomistas como el hilemorfismo, la persona como capax Dei, la relación naturaleza-gracia, los dones espirituales extraordinarios y el papel de la voluntad en la adquisición de virtudes para mostrar cómo un enfoque tomista aporta luz a la investigación contemporánea sobre la experiencia espiritual y está abierto a aprender de nuevos datos.
