Abstract

The 1640´s decade fake prophets  used to say that they had direct contact with God and were God´s messages couriers for Kings and Princes. In this context, we include the messages that the Sor María de Ágreda transmitted to Felipe IV. The nun reminded the King that God was punishing his Monarchy because he had carried on a hostile policy towards the Papacy. In this claim, she received the help of many prophets who shared her ideological approaches. The nun and these visionaries, included the king's confessor, fray Juan de Santo Tomás, were the voice of a power group that manipulated their messages to urge the rey planeta to redirect the politics of the Catholic monarchy according to the interests of Papacy
