Abstract

The present work seeks to analyze the issue of declining birth rates in the world and in Argentina, aiming not to dwell on specific sociological problems but rather to explore their underlying causes. It proposes an exercise in reflection on this phenomenon, uncovering certain sociological reasons and directing attention toward deeper anthropological questions: whether human fertility is a matter of indifference, the relationship between sterility and a self-centered approach to life, technological enslavements, the loss of a sense of transcendence, challenges to the legitimacy of the human, geopolitical aspects, and religious motivation. Each of these issues is merely sketched out, with the aim of generating reflection and debate on the topic. From such reflection may emerge the possibility of finding not only a reversal of this phenomenon, but also the means of leading a qualitatively more dignified and human life.
